CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

Our Children’s Ministry is a safe environment where children experience God in a personal way through the teaching of Scripture. We prayerfully desire to partner with families to "train up a child in the way he should go" (Proverbs 22:6) laying a solid biblical foundation resulting in devoted followers of Christ.

APCC Kids offers programs for 6 month olds through sixth grade during the service. These age groupings may change depending on the demographics each year. For example we currently are not offering classes for 3-6th graders because we don’t have kids in that age group.  However, the kids in that age group are growing in number so we hope to have classes for them in the fall of 2022.

Teethers (6 months old - 23 months old)
We help the youngest children understand that church is a safe and caring environment. Volunteers share God's love through play and care-giving.

Toddlers (2-4 years old)
This age group learns Biblical principles and hears basic Bible stories.  They practice the lesson content through play, crafts, games, songs, and other hands-on activities related to the story.

Preschool - Kindergarten (4 - 6 years old)
After attending corporate worship, the children are dismissed to Kids Worship then they go to their classroom. In the classroom, children experience God through interactive Bible lessons, a growing understanding of how to use the Bible, and hands-on activities. These activities include guided-play, crafts, singing, prayer, and more. They even begin to memorize monthly Bible verses.

 Lower Elementary (Grades 1 - 3)
After attending corporate worship, the children are dismissed to Kids Worship then they go to their classroom. In the classroom, children participate in games, interactive Bible lessons, hands-on activities, small group discussions, Bible skills, prayer, memory verses, and more. Our goal is to help children grow in their personal relationships with Christ by teaching them biblical truths and helping them witness to their peers.

Upper Elementary (Grades 4 - 6)
Students will attend worship with their families. Once in the classroom, they will gain a deeper understanding of the Gospel as they dig into theological truths. The students are given tools to help them share their faith.  They spend time practicing presenting the gospel to each other in class so they are more comfortable sharing Christ with unbelievers. Students will have structured lessons, group discussions, prayer time, and more.

Kids Worship (PreK-4 – 3rd Grade)
The purpose of Kids Worship is to practice songs commonly sung during corporate worship.  We break down the lyrics showing children where these lyrics appear in Scripture. We really dive into gospel theology during this time.  By practicing these songs, the children are more prepared to participate in corporate worship and they understand what they are singing  and they are truly able to worship along with the church family.

Our Curriculum
Toddlers - 3rd Graders use The Gospel Project curriculum. It is a 3 year chronological study of God's Word. It's written in such a way that children see how each story fits into God's plan of redemption. It teaches doctrine, theology, and life application.  The goal of this curriculum is for children to be on mission as they become devoted followers of Christ.

4 - 6th Graders use John Piper’s Children Desiring God curriculum. This curriculum dives deep into theology "imparting to children a vision of God, who He is, and who we are in relation to Him, and to establish them with a foundation of doctrine and truth."
